The very last body part to be painted was the hood. The hood was painted last so that all the work that might need to be done in the engine compartment could be done without the hood in place and because the hood would not be bolted on until the very end of the work, there was not sense in having it completed and risking that something could scratch or dent it during those months.

The hood supports were reinforced with silicone and the underside was painted using the special blend used on many other under the hood parts.
